Print production

Print QR codes people can scan.

A good QR proof is plain, high contrast and tested at the real size. These are the decisions to make before you send artwork to print.

1

Size for distance

A common starting point is a QR width around one tenth of the furthest scan distance. Increase it for dense data, movement or difficult lighting.

2

Protect the pattern

Keep four clear modules around every side. Do not place a border, text, logo or photograph inside that quiet zone.

3

Test the real proof

Print at final size on the actual material. Test at the shortest and longest expected distances with at least two phones.

Before the full print run

  • Scan from the expected distance
  • Test in bright and dim light
  • Open the final destination on mobile
  • Keep a dated copy of the approved artwork

After installation

  • Scan every distinct placement once
  • Check curved or laminated versions again
  • Monitor the destination for broken links
  • Keep replacement artwork accessible
